Lightening the load

Do you sometimes or often feel tired, drained, grumpy for no reason or just plain out of sorts with no idea where it came from? Or perhaps you’re like me where I overeat in social situations trying to deal with all the emotions around me including my own.  I used to think it was just me being shy and introverted, then I came to realise that I’m a Highly Sensitive Person (HSP) so most often I’m like an antenna picking up a lot of stuff that’s not mine and my habit of emotional eating to deal with issues creates the over eating.

Energetic Protection is a controversial subject, some people say it’s essential yet according to Abraham Hicks – “You don’t have to protect yourself from anything! In fact, an attitude of protection will surely bring you to the vibration of the thing from which you’re protecting yourself. Because you can’t look at something and say, “Oh no, I’m saying a prayer to protect myself from you,” without achieving vibrational harmony with “you”, whatever you are.”

Covid-19 Lockdown in South Africa earlier this year really brought to my attention how much I was being influenced by what was around me.  The fear was palpable.  I would get overwhelmed very easily.  I found watching the news and being out amongst others made it all worse.

For many years I have not wanted to protect myself from the outside by drawing on cloaks or putting around bubbles or creating cages or any other ways I’ve heard of.  The intention behind such protection I found out also needed to be specific – against whom / what, for how long, etc. which if I forgot about could create an even heavier load of built up layers for me to deal with.  I find that centering myself in my heart space and radiating out light and love from there to surround myself is more effective and less restrictive.  Chatting to Loretta around that time added another layer to my daily routine.  She passed on a way that she’d learnt of connecting to Source and to the Earth that added something to what I was doing haphazardly.

Around the same time I came across a meditation by Julie Foucht where she described walking on a beach to a big bonfire, created and kept going by a group of wise women, and there taking the fear like a cloth off of my body and putting it into the fire.  I loved the metaphors and the sacredness of the space held at that bonfire on the beach.  I felt lighter and more energised after that so I started to use that visualization often and included taking the “blanket” off of my home and property too.

As a HSP one of the biggest things I have had to learn is whether what I am feeling is mine or not.  That may sound very odd but for Empaths and HSPs this is a large part of our journey.  Learning to discern or ask “Is this mine?” is still one I don’t always do straight off but am getting better at.  I learnt to question it when doing a BARS (Access Consciousness) course and applied it infrequently at first, mostly when reminded to do so by someone else.  I am great at starting things but not always at maintaining them, I can get distracted very easily… 😉 as well as getting complacent and not do a routine cleansing or put something in place before going out or being around others.

So I learnt during this highly impactful year:

  1. To daily Centre myself in my body, connect to Source, ground into the Earth and then radiate out love from my heart as soon as possible after I woke up. (Download this process here)
  2. When I felt anything “negative” or overwhelming to ask “Is this Mine?” and to hand it over if it was not.
  3. To “vaccuum” my body and energy field, using visualization, when feeling out of sorts or to hand over to the bonfire anything heavy and then reconnecting as in point 1.

Doing these has helped me to be lighter, to cope more easily and not to fall into overload as quickly, especially when out doing shopping or around other people.  It’s not always easy, sometimes I forget and need to be reminded ;).

There are many other ways to cleanse and clear your energy bodies.  Some of the ones I have learnt to help myself with are to take a salt bath or smudge myself with incense or rub essential oils onto my hands and run them through my aura – clicking fingers and clapping also helps to break up any stuckness there.  There are a multitude of products and sprays available to aid you with this too. The incense and oils can also help your animals when they are distressed.

There are many ways to help yourself with this.  I encourage you to be curious, to research, to try things out and find the ones that work for you.  We are all individuals and I don’t believe there’s a one size fits all solution out there.  Feel free to ask any questions below or reach out to either of us.

With love
